About ChunkAudio

We built the audio splitter we wished existed: simple, fast, and completely private.

Our Mission

ChunkAudio was born from a simple frustration: why do most online audio tools require you to upload your files to a server? When you're working with personal recordings, interviews, podcasts, or any audio you care about, the last thing you want is your files sitting on someone else's server.

Our Promise

Your audio files never leave your device. Every split, every cut, every operation happens right in your browser. We built ChunkAudio this way because we believe privacy shouldn't be a premium feature - it should be the default.

The Problem We Solve

Splitting audio files into equal parts seems like it should be simple. But when you search for "split audio online," you're met with tools that:

We thought there had to be a better way. Modern browsers are incredibly powerful - they can decode audio, process it, and create new files entirely on your device. So we built ChunkAudio to harness that power while keeping everything simple and private.

What We Stand For

Privacy First

Your files stay on your device. Period. We use browser-based processing because your audio is your business, not ours.

Simplicity

One job, done well. Upload a file, set your chunk length, download. No learning curve, no feature bloat.

Speed

No upload wait times. Processing starts instantly because everything happens on your device using modern Web APIs.

Free Access

The core tool is free forever. No hidden limits, no trial periods, no watermarks. We believe useful tools should be accessible to everyone.

The Technology Behind ChunkAudio

ChunkAudio leverages modern web technologies to deliver a desktop-quality audio editing experience entirely in your browser:

Web Audio API - We use the browser's built-in audio processing capabilities to decode and analyze audio files. This means your browser handles the heavy lifting, not a remote server.

File API - Your audio file is read directly into browser memory. It's never sent over the network. When you "upload" to ChunkAudio, you're really just giving your browser permission to read the file.

JavaScript Processing - Our code calculates split points, optionally detects silence for smart cuts, and generates new audio files - all running locally on your device.

Blob Creation - Split audio chunks are created as WAV files in your browser's memory, then made available for download directly to your device.

Tim

Founder & Developer

Hi! I'm Tim, the developer behind ChunkAudio. I built this tool after getting frustrated with online audio splitters that required uploading my files to unknown servers. As someone who works with audio regularly for podcasts and transcription projects, I needed something fast, simple, and private. When I couldn't find it, I built it myself. My goal is to create useful web tools that respect your privacy and just work - no accounts, no hassle, no compromises.
